7.18. Removal and installation of the traction relay

On the Integra models the starter of production of the Nippondenso company with the fixed traction relay is used. In case of failure all assembly is subject to replacement. The description given below belongs to Mitsubishi starters.


 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Disconnect a negative wire from the battery.

If the stereosystem established on the car is equipped with a security code before disconnecting the battery make sure that you have the correct combination for input of the audio system in action!


2. Remove a starter (see Removal and installation of a starter).
3. Disconnect the big wire connecting the traction relay to the starter electric motor plug.

4. Turn out long bolts of fastening of a face cover to a reducer casing (see an accompanying illustration). Remove the case of anchor assembly.

5. Turn out fixing screws and separate a reducer casing from a forward cover of assembly (see an accompanying illustration).

6. Turn out fixing screws and separate a reducer casing from the traction relay (see an accompanying illustration).

7. Installation is made upside-down. Before assembly grease the lever of the drive and a plunger of the traction relay with assembly lubricant (see an accompanying illustration).
