10:11. Removal and installation of power shafts

Removal

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1. Take off a rim cap. If the stupichny nut is fullered, unbend a lock fillet / uvula by means of a center punch or a chisel (see an accompanying illustration).

2. Weaken a stupichny nut by means of a face key with the drive equipped with a long collar (see an accompanying illustration).

3. Weaken nuts of fastening of the corresponding forward wheel, the car and establish to a poddomkratta it on props. Remove a wheel. Merge transmission oil / ATF (see the Head Routine maintenance).
4. Disconnect a damper fork from damping assembly and the lower control lever of a suspension bracket (see the Head Podvesk and steering).
5. Release the lower control lever of a suspension bracket from a rotary fist (see the Head Podvesk and steering). Now finally give a stupichny nut.

6. Reject stupichny assembly outside, releasing from it a pin of a power shaft (see an accompanying illustration).


If the power shaft "soured" and does not give in to extraction from a nave, knock on its end face with the hammer with soft brisk. Tie up the external end of a power shaft a wire to any of suspension bracket elements, having eliminated with that unnecessary loads of assembly of the internal CV JOINT.


7a. Having accurately hooked the lever, release the internal end of a power shaft from the main transfer of transmission, or (Integra model) from assembly of an intermediate shaft. As the lever mount which should be entered into a gap between a casing of the internal CV JOINT and a case a transmission/support of the bearing of an intermediate shaft perfectly will approach (see accompanying illustrations).

7b. Holding for CV JOINTS, accurately take assembly of a power shaft from under the car. In order to avoid damage of an epiploon of an intermediate shaft/differential try to hold the internal CV JOINT in horizontal position until the pin of a shaft is not released from a landing nest finally.

Installation

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

1a. Remove a spring lock ring from the internal end of a power shaft and replace it new (see accompanying illustrations).

1b. Grease sponges of an epiploon of an intermediate shaft/differential with universal lubricant, then accurately bring a power shaft to regular situation, holding it for CV JOINTS.

2. Carefully fill the pin of the internal CV JOINT equipped with vents in a landing nest in a transmission case, or an intermediate shaft (Integra model). Make sure that the lock ring was reliably latched in a landing flute.
3. Slightly grease with universal lubricant of a vent of a pin of the external CV JOINT, delay outside stupichny assembly and accurately fill in it the end of a shaft.
4. Fill a hairpin of a spherical support of the lower control lever of a suspension bracket in a rotary fist and tighten a nut with the required effort (see Specifications to the Head Podvesk and steering). Do not forget to replace the forelock. Establish into place a damping fork (see the Head Podvesk and steering).
5. Screw a stupichny nut (in case of need do not forget to replace a lock washer) and strongly tighten it.

Final tightening of a stupichny nut with the required effort is made after lowering of the car on the earth.


6. Grasp the case of the internal CV JOINT (not for a shaft) and pull it outside, checking reliability of fixing of a pin in transmission.
7. Establish into place a wheel, fix it by nuts and lower the car on the earth.
8. Delay with the required effort wheel (see Specifications to the Head Routine maintenance) and stupichny nuts. By means of a center punch fuller a stupichny nut. Establish into place a rim cap.
9. Fill in in transmission necessary amount of oil of the required grade (see the Head Routine maintenance).
