On your Honda car four-stage hydromechanical automatic transmission with the blocked hydrotransformer can be established. Blocking of the hydrotransformer improves fuel profitability of the car. On subjective feelings inclusion of a blocking friction clutch of the hydrotransformer is similar to usual switching of a step of the transmission.Cars with a stepless variator

Provisions of the lever of the selector of ranges

On the control panel the indicators allowing to control easily position of the selector of ranges of automatic transmission are located.
On some modifications of the car turning on of the D4 indicator for several seconds at inclusion of ignition is provided (the key is turned in the lock in situation II). If the D4 indicator blinks during the movement of the car (irrespective of position of the lever of the selector of ranges), it indicates possible malfunction of automatic transmission. In this case it is necessary to avoid sharp dispersals of the car and to address on HUNDRED Hondas.
The D4 indicator can sometimes settle down together with the separate index of level of fuel.

Depending on modification of the car the lever of the selector of ranges can have seven or six fixed provisions. At start of the engine the lever of the selector has to be only in situation P (Parking) or N (Neutral). If you stopped the car when in automatic transmission one of ranges of D4, D3, 2, 1 (which is available on some modifications of the car), N or R is included, then it is necessary to release completely a pedal of an accelerator and to press a brake pedal for reliable braking of the car.
Certain switchings of the lever of the selector of ranges can be made only by simultaneous pressing the clamp button which is located sideways handles.

Cars with the selector lever unblocking device
To switch the lever of the selector of ranges from situation P to situation R, it is required to press at the same time on a brake pedal and the button of a clamp.

Provisions of the handle of the selector
Р (Parking)

In this position of the lever of the selector the output shaft of transmission is mechanically blocked. Always turn on the selector lever in situation P (Parking) at switching off or start of the engine. To bring the selector lever out of situation P (Parking), it is necessary to press a brake pedal, previously having released an accelerator pedal. Press the clamp button located sideways on the lever handle, and switch off the lever from situation P (Parking).
If on the car equipped with the selector lever unblocking device after all actions stated above it is still not possible to bring the lever out of situation P (Parking), it is necessary to release the selector lever, having used the ignition key, see below.
To turn on the lever of the selector of ranges in situation P (Parking), it is necessary to press the clamp button also. In order to avoid breakage of transmission turn on the lever in situation P (Parking) only after a full stop of the car.
On the car equipped with the selector lever unblocking device. You can take out a key from the ignition lock, only if the lever of the selector is in situation P (Parking).
R (Backing)
Ways of switching of the lever of the selector of ranges between provisions R (Backing) and P (Parking) are described above. (Neutral) you make turning on of the lever in situation R from situation N only after a full stop of the car, at the same time it is necessary to press the clamp button located sideways lever handles. (Neutral)
Use situation N (Neutral) at start of the decayed engine on the run of the car and at short stops of the car with the working engine. If you for any reason need to depart from the car, previously transfer the selector lever to situation P (Parking). Press a brake pedal at switching off of the lever of the selector of ranges from situation N (Neutral).
D4 (Movement)
In this situation the lever of the selector has to be constantly at the movement of the car in normal road conditions. In the range of D4 (Movement) automatic gear shifting of the forward course depending on the speed of the car and extent of pressing an accelerator pedal is provided. On some modifications of the car correction of the moments of switchings to the highest transfers towards higher speeds of the movement is provided if the engine is not heated-up up to the normal temperature. It provides more bystry warming up of the engine.
D3
If the lever of the selector of ranges is included in the provision D3, automatic transmission functions similar to a case of inclusion of range of D4. Difference consists that transition to the 4th transfer is excluded. Range of D3 is recommended to be used at towage of the trailer in the hilly area or for braking implementation by the engine on descent. Inclusion of range of D3 is useful also for an exception of excess cyclic switchings of automatic transmission between the third and fourth transfers which can be observed, for example, at the movement in a dense transport stream with frequent delays in car stops.
For sharp dispersal of the car during the operation of the transmission in the range of D4 or D3 press an accelerator pedal against the stop. At the same time the transmission will automatically pass to adjacent lowest transfer. If the speed of the car is small, the box can switch to two steps down at once.

To transfer the lever of the selector of ranges to situation 2, press the clamp button which is located sideways lever handles. At inclusion of range the 2nd automatic transmission will constantly work at the second transfer. At a car stop the transmission does not pass to the first transfer. Constant inclusion of the second transfer provides good traction dynamics of the car on rises and a possibility of intensive braking with the engine on descents. Range 2 is recommended to be included at start-off of the car on a slippery paving, and also at the movement on deep snow. It helps to prevent strong slipping of driving wheels of the car.
At inclusion of ranges of D3 or 2 on the run of the car inclusion of the lowest transfers to transmissions automatically is late and happens only after the speed of the car decreases to the safe level at which there will be no excess of the most admissible turns of a bent shaft of the engine.
1 (separate models)
To transfer the lever of the selector of ranges to situation 1 of situation 2, press the clamp button which is located sideways lever handles. At inclusion of range 1 automatic transmission will constantly work at the first transfer. Switching the lever of the selector of ranges between provisions 1, 2, D3 and D4, you can operate automatic transmission similar to the transmission with manual switching (but without the need for use of a pedal of switching off of coupling).
Device of an unblocking of the lever of the selector of ranges (separate models)

The device of an unblocking allows to bring the lever of the selector of ranges out of situation P (Parking) if the standard practice of switching off (with simultaneous pressing a brake pedal and the button of a clamp) was inefficient.
