3.21. Survey of components of a suspension bracket and steering drive, check of a condition of protective covers of power shafts

The condition of components of a suspension bracket and the steering drive has to be made regularly as their wear or damage can be the reason of reduction of service life of tires, lead to decrease in controllability of the car and increase in fuel consumption. Check of a condition of shock-absorbers

1. Park the car on the flat horizontal platform, whenever possible with a hard coating. Firmly cock the parking brake and check pressure of a rating of tires.
2. Press on one of car corners. At an otpuskaniye the body has to come back to a starting position, making no more than one-two fluctuations.
3. Rocking of a body at an otpuskaniye of a corner demonstrates high probability of wear or weakening of the corresponding shock-absorber.
4. Repeat the procedure with each of the remained car corners.
5. The car also establish to Poddomkratta it on props.

6. Attentively examine shock-absorbers on existence of signs of leak of liquid (see an accompanying illustration). Existence of a thin oil film should not cause concerns. Without fail make sure that a source of leak is the shock-absorber, in case of need make replacement of shock-absorbers in a set (forward and back).

7. Check reliability of fastening of shock-absorbers on the support. In case of detection of defects replace shock-absorbers in a set.

1. Visually check components of a suspension bracket and the steering drive for existence of deformations and mechanical damages (see illustrations above). |
2. Estimate a condition of sealing cuffs, protective covers and rubber plugs (see accompanying illustrations), try not to pass signs of development of leaks.
3. Clear the lower surface of a rotary fist of dirt traces ask the assistant to grasp bottom edge of a wheel and to pull it in the cross direction. Try to reveal visually a side play in spherical support of connection of a fist with a suspension bracket control lever. In the presence of a side play the worn-out hinge is subject to replacement.
4. Grasp forward and back edges of a wheel, press on forward and pull for back. In case of identification of a side play in joints of components of the steering drive check a condition of the pendular lever and tips of steering drafts. Pass to other board of the car and repeat the procedure, having pulled an opposite wheel. |

Check of a condition of protective covers of power shafts
Established since both ends of each of power shafts corrugated rubber covers (CV JOINTS) are designed to protect hinges of equal angular speeds from the destructions connected with hit of dirt in them. Hit of oil and lubricant on a surface of covers can lead to their premature destruction. It is expedient to wash out covers solution of soap water from time to time. In view of a constant flexure at turns of wheels, covers of external CV JOINTS wear out quicker and have to be checked more often and more regularly.

1. Attentively check covers for existence of cuts, cracks and other damages, estimate reliability of fixing by their bandage tapes. In case of detection of defects, or lubricant leak traces the damaged cover is subject to replacement (see the Head Stsepleniye and power shafts). |
